Strategy
The framework-setting worksheet. Here you record what the organisation stands for and where it wants to go, and translate that into workable strategic themes.
What it contains
- Identity — mission, vision, ambition and core values.
- Analysis — internal and external developments, leading to a SWOT.
- Strategic themes — up to seven themes, each with at most three critical success factors and three KPIs. The limit is deliberate: a strategy with fifteen themes is not a strategy.
- Digital maturity — a measurement of how digitally mature the organisation is, based on the European digital maturity framework.
What you do yourself
You fill in the identity fields or have them extracted from the dossier, assess the external developments as opportunity or threat, and set the themes that steer the rest of the engagement.
What AI does
Every AI button is one of three actions — extract from the dossier, generate using the dossier, the worksheet and general knowledge, improve text that is already there. A proposal stands as a proposal, with its origin, until you accept it; you accept per item.
- Mission, vision, ambition and core values: extract and generate per field; the text fields can also be improved. If the dossier is in English, Extract finds the fields there too, and Generate returns them in the language of the canvas. Generate relies on the context of the canvas (project details, the other core fields) and states what the draft rests on. Add core values and the SWOT lists with Enter.
- Strategic summary: generate and improve.
- SWOT: per side (external, internal) extract and generate, plus an auto-tag that classifies each development as opportunity, threat, strength or weakness.
- Strategic themes: extract and generate, each theme with a proposed goal. A proposed theme (and a SWOT item) appears as a card as soon as the model writes it, with a counter next to it, and is already saved by then; clicking it away or refreshing costs nothing.
- Success factors and metrics: extract and generate per theme. Extract includes the current value and the target value if the dossier states them literally. Propose metrics makes a proposal in one go for every success factor that does not have one yet.
- Capability model: generate in one go from the themes and the dossier, in six steps (candidates, deduplicating, harmonising, clustering, substantiating, assigning domains); afterwards you establish the model and manage it on the capability worksheet.
What you record here — mission, vision, ambition and themes — also goes along as context when the AI generates anything on Guiding principles, Customers, Processes, People and IT.
Digital maturity
The Digital maturity tab measures the organisation's digital maturity with the European digital maturity framework (the questionnaire for SMEs). You add a measurement, choose sector and size, and answer the eleven questions with one click per answer. For each of the six topics — digital business strategy, digital readiness, human-centric digitalisation, data management, automation and artificial intelligence, and green digitalisation — and for the total, you see the score, the level (basic, average, moderately advanced or advanced) and your own ambition next to it. It is a directional self-assessment, meant to carry the conversation.
- Establishing: the owner of the canvas establishes a measurement as a revision. The list shows whether a measurement has changed since its last revision.
- To the SWOT: on a click the AI proposes strengths and weaknesses from the measurement for the SWOT, without proposing anything that is already there. You accept piece by piece.
- Document: the Digital maturity report (see Reporting) turns the established measurement into a document with a cover page and a ring.
Linking themes to worksheets
Every strategic theme gets a goal, and at the theme you choose which worksheets it applies to. With Propose links, AI makes a proposal for this; accepting only adds links and never removes one. On Guiding principles, Customers, Processes, People and IT, the linked themes with their goal are shown in the Strategic framework side panel.
What it delivers
The strategic framework that returns elsewhere: themes are tied to capabilities, principles and ultimately to initiatives in the Change portfolio.
The worksheet report shows everything on this worksheet, empty fields included, without judgement, in these chapters: what this report is for · identity · SWOT · strategic themes · success factors and metrics · capability model · documents consulted. The management summary and the findings with advice are two other documents of this worksheet; see Reporting.
The Strategy One-pager is the fourth: one A4 that reads like a business text — where we want to go, how we get there (the themes as lines, with what it changes for the customer) and how we will notice — without counts. Downloading first asks for your confirmation that you have reviewed the content.
The Digital maturity document is a document of its own for this worksheet: a cover page with the ring of the total, fixed chapters from the established measurement, and parts written by the AI — summary, explanation per topic, recommendations with priority and what it means for the engagement. A number that does not come from the measurement is rejected. Downloading is possible as soon as there is an established measurement and the figures add up.
